Absence-Failure Notification System

Page history last edited by MC 9 years, 8 months ago

The College of Liberal Arts encourages faculty members to use the Absence/Failure Reporting System as a regular feature of class management. The Absence/Failing Report can be found online at https://utdirect.utexas.edu/ns/ns.unique.WBX. Although this system is maintained by the College of Natural Sciences, it is available for faculty in all colleges.

Why use this online form?

  • It allows instructors to reach out to struggling students.
  • It documents the contact in the university-wide advisor note system.
  • It can provide students with helpful feedback in making the decision to keep or drop the class.

The student will receive a message and an automatic note will be made in the university-wide student note system for advisors. Some colleges have the system set up to notify advisors directly as well, though Liberal Arts does not. While Liberal Arts advisors do not receive notification, documentation that instructors have reached out to students in this way is useful to advisors when they speak with students or handle appeals to drop or withdraw. If you have any questions, please contact an advisor in your department or in the Student Division, 512-471-4271.
