Students Who Never Attend

Even in this era of 24/7 online information, students occasionally do not know the classes for which they have registered, and consequently fail to attend some classes. In the past, the college would drop students from these classes with instructor permission and verification of nonattendance. The college will now only consider these types of requests in the event of university error or, rarely, in cases of clear registration error and only by appeal.

While instructors are not obligated to contact students who have never attended, if you are so inclined you can use the Absence-Failure Notification System to do so. The student will receive a message and an automatic note will be made in the university-wide student note system for advisors. Documentation of attendance issues in the note system is useful if students appeal to drop a class.
