The University holds commencement exercises at the end of the spring semester. Each college and school also holds a commencement ceremony in the spring, and many hold graduation exercises in the fall. Since no graduation ceremonies are held in the summer, those who graduate in the summer may attend Commencement in the fall semester (if the college or school holds a ceremony) or the following spring. Each student should consult his or her academic advisor early in the semester of graduation for information about commencement activities and procedures.

All liberal arts students are invited to participate in the liberal arts joint commencement ceremony. Some departments also have their own ceremonies. Students can attend the liberal arts joint ceremony, their department ceremony (if applicable), and/or the university-wide ceremony.
